"Supporter", then do we get an athletic supporter instead of a tank? This made me think of how in that movie Grease they said, "If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter!" Hardy Har Har!!!!

Mike and I can give you a (postdated) check to join tomorrow night.
See ya' tomorrow night at RW!

Hey, Brian, count me in, don't know if I will actually join you on the trail, me and nature - not such a good thing.  Remember Kathy calls me the Devine Miss M - well roughing this weekend will be at the Courtyard Marriott!

I am filling out my application and will bring it to the store tomorrow when I run with out group.

Brian,
I am throwing my running hat in the ring. I plan to run the long race, but hope to make a short race out of it. (can you say 3:56:xx?) I’ll just settle for an ever so slight PR.

Dana and I have a wedding on Saturday to attend at 2:00 (we’re finally getting hitched), and will head OKCward around 4:00. Hopefully we can meet up with some TATURites for some carbo-loading of some sort. (Eating potatoes with my TATUR friends…..hmmm, sounds a little too weird.)
See you Thursday,

Ken C.

Very cool about Randy Ellis coming to speak to our group and also becoming a TATUR.  Sarah and I don't want to miss that meeting and were wondering if you had a specific date scheduled yet.  We would like to go to Reno June 10-14.  If I remember right, you said you used to live in Reno and that there were lots of trails to run.  We would be staying at Harrah's, and most likely will not have a car, although we may rent one for a day or two.
Neither one of us have been to Reno, so any tips or things we would want to do for sure while there, please let us know.
See you in OKC this weekend.  I will be starting with the 4:30's if they have the start grouped by anticipated finish times.

Will do,

all he can talk about now is doing a trail run.
See you Thursday night.  I am going to try to get him to come run with us and have pizza.

Okay I went ahead and got a room there and so did Teresa.  And as for the page as long as I keep my screen on minimize then it looks great but when I maximize the screen it messes up again.  I am not sure why it does that.

Hey Brian

Can you add my home email to the list too?   I can not get to my work address from home and I don’t want to miss out on any runs.  okagenda@hotmail.com

Also for the people who have not ran with the group before it would be nice to have a nice map on the site of how to get to Turkey Mountain and where to park, etc…Also for people like me who have not done this stuff before I need to know about water and stuff like that….just a general basics class would be great. Also I was wondering if it is just my computer or what but when I go to the home page of the group I can not read all the titles in the left hand margin.  The main text is cutting into this margin. And just so you know my PR was on the St. Patty’s day race but I can not find the times.  I am not sure who did the timing there.  And I guess the Memorial 5K was my first trail race.  HA…I did not even think of that being a trail race but I guess it was. Thanks.

Brian,

I'm just now getting back to you.  I was out of town most of the weekend.  I ran the Quachita 50 miler Saturday near Little Rock.  It was a tough course and pretty warm.  Let's just say, I was a fried TATUR at the end of that one.

I did see the website and was impressed at the thought and work that you have put in it.  I'm really excited to have people in Tulsa that are enthused about trail and ultra running.  I plan to get my membership form in right away and would enjoy speaking at your next meeting.  My run seems ancient history by now but I still enjoy sharing about it and running in general.
Thanks for the e-mail on running Sat. at Turkey Mtn.  The next time a group meets there, I would like to join them.  I haven't run out there in many many years - not even sure I remember where to park.  I would like to go with someone who knew what they were doing.

Actually, I didn't even think about a link to local parks/trails.  That's your great idea.  I was just thinking of runners sharing and describing some of their favorite local trails.

Look forward to meeting you,
Randy E.

Brian,

Dana has a better 5k time:
116  12/25   F4549 Dana Childress         Catoosa         OK  48   34:11   6:51
in the Wish Lemons run, earlier this year.
The site is looking better every day!! You've been busy.

Hey Randy,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I thought the aid station mishap was funny. Just a part of trail running. I did fine until the last 8 miles. The heat really does me in. My frind Rachelle and I decided to just walk most of that last bit for fun. No sense killing ourselves. I was hoping to run around a 5:30. Better luck next time. You ran GREAT though. You're a very talented distance runner,
I love running trail ultras. They are my favorites. It was good to see you out there. My fiancee, Brian Hoover and a few others are thinking of the cat smacker. I don't think I can get off from work then.
Have you heard about the trail running club we are forming called the TATUR? Check out the website. www.tatur.org I think you would like it.
Hope to get to run with you again sometime.
 Yak at ya later.

Kathy,
After the aid station mishap, you really hung in there; it looks as though you ran well.  You must have passed several folks along the way.  I hope you enjoy the trail ultras as much as I do.  The Catsmacker on May 27 in Arkansas is a fun, low-key 20 miler on trails and forest roads - just in case you're looking for another one to do.

Brian, Sarah and I think you are doing a great job and have mailed in our dues to join tatur.  You can add us to the list of members.  My only scheduled race in the next 3 months is the OKC Memorial Marathon.  Sarah will be doing the 5k walk/run at the OKC Memorial on the same day.

My PR's are:  5k: 24:55; Marathon 4:47;
Hope to improve on my marathon pr next weekend in OKC.
See ya soon.

Brian,
That is great.  Just get me directions and I will be there.  I really want to start trying trails but I still have San Diego the first of June so I don’t want to change up my training too much before then but any beginner work will be great.  Are you going to do the Cinco de Mayo race the night before?  I was thinking of walking that also just to get out there doing something.  Let me know if anyone else wants to do the walk/run.

Hey Brian, I am running the Berryman Trail 50 miler on May 27th. They also run a marathon on the same trail. Here is the web sight if anyone is interested. http://www.stlouisultrarunnersgroup.net/berryman/06berrymanentries.htm I am also running a 6 hr run from 5pm to 11pm on a loop trail on May 13th. It is on the Texas Hillrunners I think, it is the Bar-H Boondoggle 6 hr run. There is camping on sight. I thought it would be great for 100 mile prep. Thank You Brian and by the way, I think your name MUST go first on the shirt.

Dear Brian,
Chuck and I were talking about phasing TATUR in.  Even when you take over we would each be willing to do some things.
I'd rather you didn't try and take it over all at once. There are a lot of things that need to be done. Until you do it, you won't realize how much goes on behind the scenes.
If some people were able to help before, they could run the race. Others could help afterward. Whoever is going to end up as race director needs to work the whole thing.
I'm still looking for my Macromedia Suite disk.
Did you get a draft of the results?  Any errors?

I'll be mailing out the results and posting them to the web site this week.

I will eventually post a bunch of photos on the site that we took. You are free to copy them and post them on the Tatur site if you wish.
OSU is switching our email and the main server is gone. This old account is working now but I don't know if I'll be able to send mail. I can still receive mail at TriSloth.earlblewett.net.
Glad you survived the race,

Brian,  First, congratulations again on you engagement to Kathy.  Sarah and I are happy for you both.  Secondly, thanks again for your organization of the TATUR's.  I am looking forward to getting to know everyone better and training and racing with everyone.

I know there are a million running websites out there, but I am going to send you the links to two of them anyway.  One is the Las Vegas Marathon, which I ran last year.  The message board provided a place for everyone to chat and exchange training tips, injury treatment, and everything else running, and non running.  We built up a camaraderie through the board and started our own club.  Thus, the second link to the LVN21 club.  We all plan to run 21 consecutive Las Vegas marathons.  Anyway, I thought you might be interested in how the sites were organized and the content.  By the way, my board name is Okie Hillbilly and my avatar is of Sarah and I at the DanMan.

Thanks again for you hard work and we will see you tomorrow at Lake McMurtry.

It will be hot, highs around 90 F. The National Weather Service Forecast for Friday and Saturday is; Friday Partly cloudy. Highs around 90. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph. Friday night Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. South winds 15 to 20 mph. Saturday Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms. Highs around 90. South winds 15 to 25 mph. Wed, 12 Apr 2006 20:53:59 -0500

Hey Brian, If I am able to make it it will be the 25.  I am still a little gun shy on running trails again as I don't want to go through the ITB problem again.  If it happens again, it will probably kill my chances of running the MotherRoad 100, since last time it took 4 weeks before I could run at all.  I have been doing yoga and stretching so I really hope I never have the problem again.  I am also signed up for the OKC Memorial Marathon on the 30th so don't want to take a chance on missing that one either.

Besides all that, I may have a last minute push to complete a few tax returns over the weekend.  Wow!  Can I come up with the excuses!  I will run some sort of a long run this weekend, just not sure if it will be the Lake McMurtry run.  If it works out, Sarah and I may come over and cheer everyone on if we don't run.

Do you know if any one from our group does the Wednesday night bike ride?

Hope to see everyone tomorrow evening.  I am hoping to get out of Tishomingo in time for the meeting.  If I make it, I will probably have Sarah and my 8 year old daughter with me.

Dear Brian, Kathy, and crew,
Where are you guys staying in Stillwater Friday night? We MAY drive over Friday night so we can get a few extra winks. The $$$ is a concern, but the ZZZZs are a concern as well.
Did you get my list of races? There is one in Depew Sept 9th....a 5K I think. I just don't want to be in view of YOU if I run it!!!! LOL
See you tomorrow

Greetings, Taturs!

We have an IRONMAN among us!!! I just checked back on the webcast, and our friend, Mr. Dan Threlkeld has finished at 13:42:47, good for 1152nd out of 2000 superb athletes, and 127th out of 207 in his age group. I am in AWE!! This machine of a guy ran a 5:07 marathon after beating himself up with a 2.4 mile swim and a 112 mile bike ride. I can't wait to hear a L O N G report from him!!

Hope yall had a great weekend!

I am leaving for Kansas City around 4:45 today.  I have Macromedia Studio 2004 which contains Dreamweaver as well as raster and vector graphics programs. I can't find the CD though. I'll look some more. There were 65 signed up for LMTR as of yesterday. Based on previous years', I would say we will have between 80 - 100. Close to 90 - 100 if the race day is nice.

Earl B.

Tue, 4 Apr 2006 11:08:44 -0500

It's looking good there! A couple of changes I'd recommend on it would be to set up the links which go outside tatur.org to open in a new window. Should be just a properties setting in Dreamweaver. Also if you want to reduce the amount of spam you are going to receive with the contact email, you should remove the email link and use a submission form which will send to your email. That way email scraper boots won't be able to get to it as easy. It's starting to take shape!

Tue, 4 Apr 2006 10:09:05 -0500

I have Dreamweaver, actually the entire suite, and you can use it. How do I become a member of TATUR? I did finish the marathon at Rockin-K, despite asthma and dehydration. I was just looking at my times on the Roc kin-K course. I'm getting older, not better.

Mon, 3 Apr 2006 23:18:37 EDT

I agree with a full blown monthly group run. Keystone would be a good outing. There are the trails at Oolagah, and there are trails there on either side of the dam. The trails on the east side of the dam are more horse trails, a few good ones, but many miles of dirt type roads along the edge of huge fields....kind of boring. Osage state park between Bartlesville and Pawhuska has about a 5 mile loop, that is quite rugged in places, and flat and smooth and yet wooded in other places. There is also a great river with huge rocks, bluffs, and waterfalls there.

To the east, Green Leaf near Braggs has an 18 mile loop, very hilly, rugged, rooty. There is a north loop and a south loop, which you can do both for the whole 18 miles, or just do the south loop for about a 11-12 miler. Earl and I went there last year and on the lesser traveled north loop, picked up THOUSANDS of ticks and chiggers!!!! ON further east, there is Devil's Den, between Fayetteville and Ft Smith. This is a trail runner's dream. There are SEVERAL loops, between 2 and 6 miles, and then the long loop, the butterfield trail is a 15 mile loop, over some awesome hills, over bluffs, along awesome streams. It's a great place with lots of camping possibilities, a general store, and I think a restaurant. There are also cabins there. Last year, the Ark runners had an 18 mile trail race the same day as the Tulsa Run. I have not seen anything about this run for this year though.

To the south, there is Robbers Cave, which has a 12 mile loop that is very good. There are also several other trails that are used for equestrians, but they look quite good to run as well, you just have to watch out for horse poopy. On further south, I have run the Cedar Lake area, the Horse Thief Springs trail, the Old Military Road trail, the Boardstand Trail, and I have been on about 20 miles of the Ouachita Trail from the Talahina Trail head, eastward. These are the best trails in Oklahoma. Just miles and miles of what you dream about. Making a trip to any in the southern part of the state, you would either have to leave very early, or plan to spend the night camping or whatever. It would be fun.

You asked me what I thought....and I delivered!!! :-Þ

Great job on the new tatur site.  thanks for your work on this.  I could see the links on the side, but not the entire line. You are the webmaster, ultrarunning man!!

I doubt you'll read this before tomorrow, but Dana and I will be there at the Osteo 8K and then to Turk Mt for some real fun. I can't do the k9k and get to the 8k at 9, so I'll skip the 9k. More sleep = fresh legs for a run around Zink lake.

See ya tomorrow,

The web-sight is very cool, I went through it all and was very impressed. The bad news is I can not run tomorrow. I missed 4 days of work this week because of the weather, so I will be working all weekend. I'm going to Kansas next weekend, your still welcome to go if you want. I hope you guys have a great run.

I am sure all those races are on for next year. www.arkansasrunner and www.runarkansas are 2 good websites with lots of trail races. I will try to find the Kansas ultrarunners website. They have the Heartland 100M, and the Flat Rock race, as well as the Rockin K 50M/50K. This is so COOL!

I might also suggest adding www.run100s.com . This is Stan Jensens website, with lots of race reports and links to good training and supplements. Just a thought,

Wow!! What a GREAT site, Brian!!! A few little things to tidy up, but I am SUPER IMPRESSED!!!! I called Dana just now and I'll have her check it all out. We'll be at the Osteo 8k, and also at the K9K, provided it really starts at 7:30. And then, we'll play at Turkey . Sounds like fun. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the website.
