(1/1) TATUR is happy to announce a new event.  Fellow Tatur and elite triathlete, Scott Ostrem is organizing a Polar Bear Plunge/Swim at 10 am on New Year's Day.  This is going to be a blast !!!

Bring any type of swimsuit.  TATUR will give $20 for the wildest swimsuit/body markings.  There will be other awards for the oldest and youngest Polar Bear, longest and fastest Polar Bear Swim, most goose bumps on a Polar Bear and the best Polar Bear Look-Alike.  So bring your family, some warm clothing, camera/video camera, and towels and come brave the cold water.

There will be coffee and hot chocolate.  Plan on arriving at least 15 minutes early for a group photo before you take the plunge.  Even if you are too CHICKEN to take the Plunge, come on out and laugh at the rest of us crazies.

Dig out that swimsuit and join us.  The swim will start at the Tulsa Crew Club Parking Lot (West side of the Arkansas River, just north of 21st St). For more information CLICK HERE.

Special recognition will go to those individuals who DO THE DOUBLE  (Race Into the New Years 5K and the Polar Bear Swim). This may turn into an annual pairing of events, so you don't want to miss the Inaugural New Years Eve 5K/ Polar Bear Swim.

For questions call Scott Ostrem at 918-625-1358 (Cell) or 918-582-6525 (home) or Brian Hoover at 918-244-6918

The following TATURs ran about 7 miles of trail: Barbara West, Scott & Kathy Ostrem, Pam Moore, Cyndee Maxwell, Brian Hoover, Dennis Crosby, Dan Threlkled, Randy Ellis, Chris Corbin, Tom Dorothy, Dave Sargent, Craig Morton, and TATUR to-be, Roman Broyles. We also had some four legged friends run with us: Larry, Pancho, Max, and Kona.

Kathy Sager, Marci Ellis, Julie Dorothy, David Clear, Robin Hudson, Marvin Winters, Carmie Anderson, Cynthia Thetge, Caroline Glenn, Charlie Willsey and Terriann VanDeventer either ran on the paved trail along the river, or helped organize under the TATUR Tent.

We had a great run in the damp dirt of Turkey Mountain. It was cold but felt good to get in a good run. We also met some new faces including Cyndee Maxwell and Pam Moore. We also had two Nu Taturs sign up, Teriann VanDeventer and Caroline Glenn.

After the run we all congregated around the tents ate some great snacks, desserts and enjoyed all the potluck items. We gave out the fantastic long-sleeved Tatur tech shirts to some of our newer members and sold about six shirts to members.

We talked about upcoming races and many signed up for the Race into the New Year which will be on Dec. 31st at 11:45pm. Thank you all for coming.

I just wanted to let you all know that we will be waiting for you at Mile 78. If you decide to drop, dont!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But if you have to, you need to at least make it to Mile 78.

We will have a leaky tent and seasoned trail runners present to tell ya that you look like CRAP and you have a long ways to go!!! (at least we're honest) We may even have some food if we are not too DRUNK by the time you finally roll in.

The only rule at the TATUR Aid Station is that if we have to remove a toenail from your nasty foot, it becomes property of TATUR. Please do not ask us to deviate from this rule.

Also, we will give $20 to the first person brave enough to let us write "MR 100 TATUR" on their face with a magic marker and keep it on till the finish. You also have to check out the website, www.tatur.org, to quaify and tell us the SECRET MAGIC CODEWORD which will be listed on the front page as soon as I am done typing this post. We will give you the crumpled up $20 bill at Mile 78. We have to advertise our club somehow!!

TATUR is an acronym for (Tulsa Area Trail & Ultra Runners) Once again the website is www.tatur.org

See ya Saturday,

MR100 GIF MotherRoad Aid Station Volunteers Needed

Wanna Have Some Fun after the Tulsa Run!!!

(11/2) On Saturday November 11th, 2006 Tatur will staff one of the official Aid Stations for an amazing one time event called the Mother Road 100 Mile Race. The race will start at the historic Round Barn in Arcadia OK and will end in Sapulpa. The entire run will be on "The Mother Road" (Route 66).

Tatur will be manning an Aid Station between Bristow and Kellyville. This race filled up quickly with 200 very elite and well trained athletes. They even let in eight Taturs who are signed up.:). This is the same day as the Tulsa Run. You could run your 9.3 miles in the morning. Go home relax and catch up on things then drive a little west of Kellyville to help man the Aid Station. Click Here to look at the map and interesting info about the Kellyville area

The race starts at 6am and the lead runners should be coming thru Kellyville #2 Aid Station around 5pm. The cutoff (time-limit) is 30 hours. So the last runners should be at the Kellyville #2 Aid Station around 6 am on Sunday morning. We will have more details soon but if you are interested in working at least a 2 hour shift please let the webmaster know. We desperately need people in the middle of the night. Feel free to invite the kids, friends and family to help. Tatur will be trying to win the award for "Best Aid Station" You and your partners can dress up in costume or do anything you like.

This is going to be really fun and you don't want to miss out. We have fun with glow sticks, play music, and even grill up some food at Taturs award winning Kellyville #2 Aid Station. See ya Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
