WE ARE GONNA GET DIRTY!!!! The second annual Tatur Mud Run is a timed run through muddy obstacles such as the Super Slip & Slide, Terrible Tire Traffic, Herculean Hay Hurdles, Messy Mud Moshes, and the infamous Creepy Crud Crawl. The TATUR Mud Run is fun for the whole adult family. Most teams will be in costumes trying their best to win the contest, there will be a Mud Tug-O-War, Tulsa & Berryhill Firemen will be out to cool you off, Hooters Girls will be on hand, and Sextion 8 will be rocking the park with their distinctive sound and the over 21 participants will receive two free beers.
On Tuesday race organizers were invited to come to the studio to talk about the Mud Run and the Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp.Click here to see the video.
The following items will be available for purchase at the event. Hamburger, hot dogs, barbeque sandwiches, nachos, frito chili pie, bananas and pop. Outside food and beverages are allowed also. Feel free to bring a blanket and your appetites. However tents are not allowed unless you have paid for a tent spot and filled out the tent form.
Bring your cameras, lawn chairs, and costumes but leave your jewelry, track spikes, and vanity in the car, since you are going to plow through something that you have not experienced since you were a kid. Squishy mud, dirty clothes, slipping, sliding, and slithering in good ole fashioned Oklahoma mud. We hope that you enjoy this unique experience, since we know that your family and friends are going to laugh at you.
Gem Dirt LLC of Tulsa has generously donated all the dirt for the Tatur Mud Run. Entrants this year will get to frolic in some good clean, earthy, loamy mud thanks to Ed Gorman and his crew at Gem Dirt. This generous donation of dirt not only means that the mud will be fantastic this year, it also means that by not having to pay for dirt, the Mud Run will be able to donate even more money to the Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp. Thanks Gem Dirt !!
In 1991 a partnership was formed by Gil Ogles, Ed Gorman, and Mike Woffard, thus beginning GEM Dirt Sales. The company started with 20 acres of dirt along the Polecat Creek basin. With three employees, one dump truck, one dozer and a phone on the fence, GEM Dirt Sales rapidly grew over the next three years. The partnership ended when Gil and Mike took other jobs and Ed Gorman became sole owner. Eventually an excavator and small office building were added in 1996 and two more staff.
GEM Dirt Sales continued to grow providing the best Sandy Loam dirt in the area. With the addition in 2000 of a screener/shredder, the dirt was sifted and cleaned to become "Tulsa's Best Topsoil". Area landscapers and homeowners are allowed to dump leaves and grass clippings free each fall. After the leaves compost, they are mixed with the dirt to provide a one-of-a-kind product for the Tulsa metro area. Additional land was purchased over time to bring the total to 60 acres.
In the spring of 2005, GEM Dirt Sales became GEM Dirt, LLC. With the new name came a new office building and more staff and equipment. We are proud to be a family owned small business and hope to continue serving our customers for years to come.

The team competition works like this - Team members can all stick together during the race, or they can all run on their own. Teams will be scored based on each of the team members' handicapped (age/sex graded) time. For example, let's say one member of the team is a 40 year old female who runs the two miles in 28 minutes and 29 seconds. Her handicapped time would be lowered to 27 minutes and 30 seconds.
All of the teams' participants handicapped times are then added up to make up the total team time and results and awards are based on that handicapped team time.
This timing system is call WMA scoring (World's Masters Athletics). WMA scoring is the result of a exhaustive study by a world-wide committee of runners and experts on aging and slowing. This system is used for MASTERS PRIZE MONEY, CLYDESDALES and TEAM SCORING where a large range of ages and both sexes participate. It is the most equitable system ever. In short, this system makes everyone 25-years-old and then compares times. Contact USATF Oklahoma for complete details on this unique scoring system.
Individual runners will be timed normally.

Premium 10'x10' tent locations that offer the best view of the action are being offered for $100 a piece. Bring your company banner, a pop-up tent, some lawn chairs, and your samples or flyers and enjoy the spectacle of seeing the crazy mud runners. Tent locations are given out on first come first serve basis.

Mud Run participants will be treated to a two show by Tulsa's own Sextion 8. Sextion 8 is a six-piece dance-rock PARTY band which features the sounds of Dreadz "The Crowd ROCKA", Tina Rose on vocals, Tre Barnes on drums and background vocals, Dave Mooney on bass and backing vocals, Soup Bone on guitar, G $Money$ on keyboards and backing vocals, and Jason Davis the sound tech. Cara waved her muddy wand and created the first annual Tulsa Mud Run. That was way back in the year of 2008 (A.D.) Tatur has always done their best to create races that are a bit different from the norm. In the year of 2008 over 600 mudders completed several obstacles such as the water gauntlet, tire maze, mud pits, slip& slide, hay bales & hurdles, mud slide, pole walk and the finale, the infamous mud crawl. 2009 promises more fun and mud. The TATURS wish to invite all the sorority girls, frat boys,, industry workers, corporate folk and all of the local communities to get involved in the wildest and craziest races that you will ever partake in. All fitness levels are qualified to compete as none of the obstacles will require ignorant physical strength. Chandler Park is letting us use their incredibly scenic grounds to have our second annual Tatur Mud Run. If you have not been up to Chandler Park lately you need to check it out. Chandler Park maintains an outdoor-lighted basketball court, ball fields, shelters, cookout grills, outdoor swimming pool, outdoor theater/concert area, disc golf course, and horseshoe area. Plenty of fun playground equipment with beautiful scenic views. They are also in the process of building a brand new community center that will open in October of 2009.
