This was a rather boring 50k but it could definitley be a PR course.  I opted for my mp3 player for the entire race but later decided time would have went by a lot faster chatting with someone.  The 25 miles of running on dirt roads was not that appealing to me,  as a matter of fact I was starting to have a lack of motivation before my arch popped and I dropped at mile 22.  Did you all hear Kathy won 1st place in the womens and Mandy took second for her longest run to date?  And did I mention Kathy ran one of the toughest trail marathons the weekend before,  in the mud.  These chicks are dangerous and there only getting better so watch out.  I look forward to doing many more ultras and off road triathlons with these girls this summer.    As for me and Brian we took 7th and 8th respectively considering there was a couple of pros and some super jocks out there.  But for my first 50k I'm happy with my time of 5hours 13sec.  Brian was 13 min min behind me after his back to back trail mary weekends.  I hope to beat that time at the Lake McMurtry 50k.  But my new plans are to enter the Arkansas Traveller 100mi race this Oct. after picking up a sponser,  (my boss) for the $150 entry.  So I'll be running for team MC ELECTRIC and Brian Hoover will be pacing me the last 40mi. and surely we can round up a crew before then.  Then I'll pace Brian on his first 100mi. attempt.    Ken tell Dana she looked strong every time I saw her and she helped me through my pain when she told me I didn't look like I was hurting.  I appreciate those words and may have DNF'ed had it not been for those kinds of words of encourgement.  But everyone better bow to Kathy for she just WON a 50 kilometer trail race.  I know that's got to be up there in your list of accomplishments babe, your a machine.  I could go on forever but the Lake McMurtry 25/50k is coming up for all who are interested, it is a really easy trail race, very few rocks, hard packed dirt.  Just think about it.                   ALEX  EATON
